Vandals defaced a copy of a newspaper and pushed it through the letter-box of a grieving Shropshire couple who owned Otto, the world’s oldest dog, on the day he died.

Peter Jones, from Reabrook in Shrewsbury, said he was angry when he sawthat the photograph of him and his dog on the front of yesterday’s Shropshire Star had been littered with obscenities.

Mr Jones has reported the incident to police.

He and his wife, Lynn, decided to have Otto put down after he was diagnosed with stomach cancer.

There are some sad, sick, people out there! They don’t understand the bond that develops between a dog and his owners, perhaps because they are incapable of such feelings themselves. What pleasure do they get out of this kind of behaviour? They must be really screwed up.
My heart goes out to the Jones family.

My friend was only saying to me this morning what a nice person Otto’s owner is and how he always brings treats for her dogs when delivering.

doe’s not surprise me I remember working on that estate 20 years ago and the equipment we used was a little loud anyway it was for 5 minutes at the end of a long day and the owner of the property wanted the job finished before he went on holiday it was 7-45pm granted, but summer time . A group of rough neck neighbors came out screaming obscenities etc and i remember thinking we have some right yobos around here and it seems nothing has changed I remember the owner saying he had to put up with loud music and barbis until 2 am in the summer .

    Jeepers,

There is no wondering about the level of intelligence – the very act suggest they have none!

I am very sorry for you loss Mr. & Mrs. Jones – Otto sounds like he was a lovely loving dog – wish I could have met him
