Parts of Shropshire and Mid Wales were returning to normal today after the “worst weather for 30 years” caused chaos across the region.

Motorists faced treacherous driving conditions today after yesterday’s fresh wave of snow arrived.

Thousands of people in Telford & Wrekin were also left with mounting piles of rubbish outside their homes as council bosses suspended bin collections due to the weather.

And the death toll from Big Freeze Britain continues to rise as a woman in her 40s died after falling into a freezing lake near Nazeing, Essex, while trying to rescue her dog.
