Shropshire and Mid Wales was in the icy grip of yet more Arctic weather today as fresh flurries of snow caused chaos.
Motorists faced difficult conditions on their commute to work, while hundreds of children were enjoying another day off as dozens of the region’s schools closed.
As sub-zero weather continues to batter the region, lakes and canals have frozen over, while thrill seekers have been heading to the south Shropshire hills for a rare chance to brush up on their skiing and snowboarding without leaving the county.

‘Meanwhile, farmers have been warned not to be tempted to grit snow-blocked roads if their tractors run on red diesel.’
This is typical of the supercilious sods who live in a city and have a shop on every corner…
These people are exactly what are wrong with this country…
When the farmers are only trying to help there community.

Isn’t it about time the men out there , my husband being one of them , got some praise for the hard work they do , he spent the Christmas holiday getting called out of bed in the middle of the night to go out gritting . He and his colleges had there pictures taken in Iron Bridge lastweek and were told they were for the Newspapers but all that got printed were snow men and snowy hillsides e.t.c. the only thing in connection with the council was road closed signs and a gritter on its side perhaps we should be showing a more positive side to what they do for us . COME ON GIVE A BIG CHEER FOR HARD WORK THEY DO !
