Man released in murder probe
Tuesday 12th January 2010, 4:22PM GMT.
Police investigating the murder of a 52-year-old Shrewsbury man have released a second person without charge.
Four men were initially arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Paul Wayne Rugg, who was found with stab wounds at his first floor flat in Kynaston Road, Harlescott, last Wednesday.
He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
One of the men, Wayne Austin, 25, has since been charged with murder and appeared before a special sitting of Shrewsbury magistrates on Saturday.
He was remanded in custody to appear before Shrewsbury Crown Court next Monday.
Police said today that a second man has been released without charge and from his bail and is no longer being investigated.
This follows the release on Friday of one of those arrested, who is also no longer being investigated.
The fourth man has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Detective Inspector Ernie Locke, the deputy senior investigating officer, said police were continuing with inquiries and making good progress.
He renewed appeals for anyone with information about the incident to contact Shrewsbury Police Station on 0300-333-3000, or to call the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800-555-111.
