As the big freeze maintained its grip on Shropshire and Mid Wales the community has been both enduring and enjoying the snow.
When ice and snow on a Shropshire estate left a 90-year-old woman housebound without any food, two police community support officers came to her rescue.
Market Drayton CSOs Angie Roche and Andy King called at the pensioner’s home to check how she was coping to find her weak, cold and pale. Unable to leave the house she had not eaten for two days and her blood sugar level was low.
Sergeant Mark Reilly arranged a whip-round of officers and staff, bought soup, bread and milk for the lady and took it round to her home.
“It was an absolute pleasure to see her face when the food was handed to her and it made me feel very proud of what we did,” he said.
