Swine flu jab ‘soon’ for young

Monday 11th January 2010, 4:00PM GMT.

SKOREA Flu 3Plans are now in place to vaccinate nearly 30,000 youngsters across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin against swine flu.

The programme to protect children over six months and under five years of age, is expected to start soon though some GP surgeries, such as the Stirchley Medical Practice in Telford, have already given the vaccine.

It held a clinic on Saturday, with six doctors and six nurses vaccinating 421 children between them after Shropshire County Primary Care Trust and NHS Telford and Wrekin reached a local agreement with doctors.

Parents are requested not to contact their GP surgery or the National Pandemic Flu Service.

They will be contacted and invited to attend a specific clinic.

If I had a child it would NOT be having this vaccine. I believe the virus was manufactured in the US, released in Mexico to mutate and is nothing more than a huge international pharma scam perpetrated on the governments of the world.

Bigbeast – have you ever thought of getting your severe paranoid delusions trested?

Andrew, whilst the vast majority of people who get swine flu have relatively minor symptoms, there are groups who are at a significantly greater risk, including young children. That’s why this jab is offered.

I’ve had both the seasonal and swine flu jabs, and I can confirm that there are no ill effects apart from a slightly sore arm following the latter – and despite exposure to a number of people who have had swine flu recently, I’ve had no symptoms – so it works!

My wife had the flu jab and was so, so sick with it… Should the young be put through that just for a vaccination against a virus that has killed a relative handful of people? And how much is this programme costing?

The nanny state strikes again! What’s wrong with kids getting an illness now and again? Minor illnesses during childhood are character-building experiences. Wrapping kids in cotton wool is not the way forwards.
