School closures 08/01/2010

Shropshire Council has said the following schools will be closed today because of the bad weather.

Information last updated at 8.30am on Friday 8 January.

Secondary schools closed
The Grove School and Sixth Form, Market Drayton

Primary schools closed

  • Clive CE Primary School
  • Grange Primary in Shrewsbury is closed to pupils, due to heating problems. However, staff can still come in (wear warm clothing)
  • Condover Primary is closed due to heating problems

Colleges closed
The names of any colleges closed will be listed here when known.

Additional information

Pupils attending any Shropshire school should only travel on their dedicated school bus service and not travel on any other vehicle, including other school bus services to their school.

Hopton Wafers Primary School is open from 9.30am until 2.15pm.

Sellatyn Primary School is open, but pupils will need to bring a packed lunch.

Newcastle Primary is open 9.30am to 3pm, but no buses are running.

Church Preen Primary is open. The Bolton’s bus service is running, but the Horrocks bus service is not running.

Farlow Primary is open, but no buses are running. Pupils will also need to bring a packed lunch.

Clee Hill Primary is open from 10am. The Corley bus will collect pupils at 9.30am from Mrs Hall’s and Mr Hiles, but there will be no breakfast club.

Church Stretton Secondary School is open, but the Minsterley bus service (CS1035) and the Horrocks bus service (CS1059) are not running.

Bishop’s Castle Community College is open, but only the main bus routes are operating.

Lacon Childe School is open 9.50am to 2.30pm. But the Stottesdon bus service will not run. Other bus services are running an hour late this morning and an hour early this evening. Buses will only pick up from the main road and will drop off as close to home as possible.

Bishop Heber High School in Malpas will only be open for years 10, 11 and the sixth form on Friday 8 January. However there is significant bus disruption – so parents should refer to the school’s website to see what bus stops are operating. The school will also close at 2.30pm for those pupils in years 10, 11 and sixth form.

Welshpool High School is open for Staff and sixth formers only. There will be no school transport.

Leintwardine School open, but pupils should bring a packed lunch.

There are currently no school closures in Telford&Wrekin.
