MP backs plea for a cap on migrants
Thursday 7th January 2010, 9:26AM GMT.
MPs and peers, including Shropshire MP Daniel Kawczynski, are demanding a limit on immigration.
The parliamentary cross-party group on Balanced Migration has called on the main parties to make an election pledge to stem the number of immigrants.
They want them to make a commitment to ensure the UK’s population does not exceed 70 million. Official projections suggest it is set to increase to that from 61.4 million by 2029.
Issues concerning a lack of housing and a congested road network already exist, they argue.
Councils too have long complained of the financial strains of delivering services to a growing population.
The group believes the population growth is in danger of becoming unsustainable and warned the scale of immigration was “unprecedented”. It said failure to stem it “would be seriously damaging to the future harmony of our society”.
Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Mr Kawczynski warned if concerns about immigration were not addressed, it would play into the hands of the British National Party.
The group’s Declaration on Population, entitled “70 million is too many” has been signed by 19 parliamentarians, including former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey, who stressed the value and benefits of immigration to the UK, but said his focus was on the “numbers”.
He also said immigrants coming have an understanding of the country’s Christian heritage and its democratic values.

Failure to respond to the call for limiting immigration will not be playing into the hands of the BNP for they have been trying to tell the whole country about the effects of uncontrolled immigration for long enough. The difference is that when a bunch of numpties, such as reported on here do it, it is regarded as a political statement, whereas, when the BNP does it, it is classed as racism!

The most true statement I have read on these pages Mr McCarthy, I agree totally.

William,
There’s a world of difference between the bigotry and racial and religious hatred preached by the BNP, and politicians who want to have an intelligent discussion about immigration policy (though I’m not sure that Daniel does fall into the latter category!).
It is nevertheless a valid point that parties such as the BNP will always thrive where there is ignorance – we need to educate people about the truth of immigration.
We do not have uncontrolled immigration – that is a lie put about by the likes of the BNP and tabloid newspapers. You will have seen the leader of the BNP making an absolute fool of himself on the recent ‘Question Time’ appearance, where he blankly refused to even discuss his known anti-Semitism.
I can only suggest that you look for real facts about immigration in more reliable sources.

I will never support the BNP, but you will find that the Question Time appearance of Nick Griffin has actually gained the BNP more support. They changed the format for Griffin’s appearance and people saw it as an ambush.
Secondly, Griffin did not look like a politician, and at a time when the expenses scandal was raging, that was beneficial for him, despite some of his appalling opinions.
The most important issue that the BBC failed on was not asking Jack Straw why so many Labour supporters are turning to the BNP. In fact, it was a disgrace because it let Straw off the hook.
Kawczynski could have mentioned this issue at any point in his time as an MP, but for him and other politicians to do so now will be seen as cheap pre-election spin.
I am rejecting the main parties to support the British Constitution Group.

So the Tories are talking tough on immigration – There must be an election looming.
But talking is all that the tories have ever done and they can never be trusted when it comes the subject of immigration.
Tory (along with Labour) immigration policies are to blame for the mess Britain finds itself in today.

With such a lamentable record of failing to speak up on serious issues that directly affects our nation, the Church of England in the shape of the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Carey has come out with comments which are a diluted take on of Enock Powell., ie “there will be serious social unrest etc”.
When comments such as this are made by a person such as this, we can take it that, those in high places are at last tasting the coffee.
We can rest assured that before long, after overseeing the most profound changes in our society in our long history by their policy of “mass uncontrolled immigration” (which, contrary to what Peter said, did and to a lesser extent still does goes on) Labour will come out with some anti immigration policy in order to win votes before the election.
All this talk and the comments it has raised should have gone on many years ago, before the BNP managed to get the foothold that it has.
I would see this country utterly swamped by foreign cultures and immigrants before I voted for the BNP and still wouldn’t. We should learn from history and let our self pride and self respect overide any feelings of anger, frustration etc over immigration by voting for the BNP

I suspect that Peter believes all that he hears on the BBC. The simple fact is this, any debate regarding immigration & the negative effects of multiculturalism has been suppressed by sneering Leftists squeeling racism & bigotry. Many urban areas are no longer recognisably British. In these areas ‘British’ society has been undermined & divided, communities live parallel lives. If Immigration is allowed to continue at current levels civil unrest & rioting will ensue. The strain on housing & resources is becoming untenable. Griffin was the only politician in the UK who had the guts to speak out.In simple terms Griffin is the most honest politician in the UK & this is why the ‘establishment’ sneer at him, lie about him & smear him.
You people complain about the lack of honest politicians… Griffin is honest & look what the media have done to him… Under these circumstances would YOU be an honest politician?
If you believe all you read you get what you deserve!

Well, one of the Labour traitors – Alan Johnson – admitted they did not know how many illegal aliens were in this country, so that’s UNCONTROLLED immigration! Also admitted an open door policy was DELIBERATE. I’d call that UNCONTROLLED immigration. Makes you wonder what bloody planet some people are on!

I`m a bit thick. I clean windows for a living.
So when the population reaches 70 million what will stop it going up to 71 million. Then up to 74 million . Then up to 80 million.
Please don`t talk about controls and points systems. All of these as we know are easily bypassed.
So will someone tell me what measures will be put in place to actually stop people coming here to live.
If you can`t tell me it will show that you are thicker than me – and I know I`m thick.
I `ll repeat that.
How will you stop control immigration ,also bearing in mind that Turkey is waiting to join the EU – 70 million more there. And they will most certainly be allowed to join eventually.
Not looking good is it.
There you go then – a simple question from a simpleton.
How will you stop it going above 70 million ?
Waffle not allowed.
You`ve been to Uni – I haven`t. Educate me.

I want immigration to be stopped now as there is far to many here already to cope with. And if you think im falling for the torys saying there gonna do something about it you can think again. There just saying it to get voted in when really they have no intention of stopping it anyway.Im voting for who i allways vote for and thats the BNP.The only ones who tell the truth.

Does immigration relly matter when we are all European’s and citizens of planet earth.
Surely we are past caring about different people living on a rock in a sea?
Myself I say let everyone who wants to come over here to graft and work come over.
get rid of the welfare state – I would no longer pay cash in benefits to any creed, colour, sex, religion, instead food/energy vouchers would be issued to the unemployed etc
This would reduce people coming to the UK on the principal that they see the UK as a soft touch on benefits etc and would also ensure that we attract a high quality workforce from abroad, this would also force all citizens of the UK to improve themselves workwise if they wish to remain employed.
Likewise all unemployed citizens could apply for jobs in Europe, all over the world etc.
To ensure this a success the minimum wage must also be set at 20K per year to stop UK companines employing cheap labour from abroad.

BucksheadBoys;
The reasons why Griffin can’t explain why he changed his mind on some of the views he held regarding the holocaust all of those years ago are obvious to anyone who is politically aware.
There are some very serious laws regarding the Holocaust and disagreeing with official history in Europe and saying the wrong thing could land you with a prison sentence of several years.
Yes I know what you are going to say Jack Straw as Justice Minister gave him permission to explain and guaranteed he would not be arrested, but the truth is Jack man of Straw is a liar and does not have the power to make any such guarantee. As Griffin is an MEP and despite it not being illegal here in the UK the EU have the power to arrest him for things he says on this subject in the UK as soon as he puts a foot down in Brussels.

Nick Griffin doesn’t have an honest cell in his body, as he recently demonstrated on Question Time!
He was offered a clear opportunity to retract his abhorrent anti-semitism, and studiously avoided the chance to do so.
I would suggest that the BNP are at least as responsible for suppressing a proper debate on immigration because their views are so utterly immoral that they have become a party of pariahs. It’s in their interest to suppress any proper debate – after all, like the British Union of fascists, The NF, and all the failed parties of the right before them, they thrive on the ignorance of the populace.
Yes, we have illegal immigrants in this country, but we deport a large number of them too – the BNP would have us believe that we just let people in willy-nilly.
There are difficulties in deporting some illegal immigrants since they arrive without any paperwork to identify their country of origin. Would the UK accept someone from another country without any form of ID just because they happened to sound and look English? – get real! In effect many of these people become stateless. The obvious effective long-term solution is to improve their economic prospects in their country of origin – but the muddle-headed people saying ‘Send them all home’ are usually the same ones saying ‘Cut foreign aid!’, so the vicious circle continues…
It’s unfortunate that many struggling to escape poverty are fed a line by those exploiting them that the streets of the UK are somehow paved with gold.
The reality is, of course, very different, but of course this myth isn’t helped by the propaganda put out by the tabloid press and parties of the extreme right who spread these lies in order to demonise people.

It’s simple, Nick Griffin made mistakes in his younger days, we all do. Opinions and views change all the time. He wasn’t a holocaust denier as such, he was a holocaust skeptic. Infact, I was until I recently did some more research on it. I do believe Griffin has made it clear that he changed his mind because of new and compelling evidence.

This is nonsense. If immigration stopped today, Brits leaving plus the immigrant baby boom will see the majority vote placed in the hands of the non-Brit within decades. Our country will be changed via the ballot box. Inner city elections are already dictated by foreigners.
And the Tories? Well, David Cameron said this:
“Not for the first time, I found myself thinking that it is mainstream Britain which needs to integrate more with the British Asian [Muslim] way of life, not the other way around.”
What arrogance by the Conservative Party.

I’ll post again so my message is rammed home crystal clear:
British births are below the replacement level of about 2.2 children per couple. That means British people are dying out. Also, many professional Brits are leaving this country. But many other foreign peoples are having many more children.
Foreign extremists will not take over this country, but foreign voters will put non-Brits into power legally and democratically unless my people open their eyes.
It’s not ‘evil’ or ‘racist’ to want your own country ruled by your own people.

I have heard some real “pearlers” just lately but the best must surely be that “Griffin is the most honest politician”. I am one of the biggest critics of politicians of all parties generally because I regard them as a dishonest, self seeking, deceitful and untrustworthy cabal – whatever party they belong to. But even by their standards, to include Griffin in this gang of politicians is to be more insulting to politicians than what I can ever be. Griffin stands alone, he is not a politician, never has been and never will be. He is the leader of a gang of mostly, street layabouts, thugs, bully boys and unintelligent morons who are only worsened by the ultra left wing extremist who oppose them on our streets whenever the BNP show themselves.
The second “pearler”, just read is that from AJ Wood who say’s:-
“He wasn’t a holocaust denier as such, he was a holocaust skeptic. In fact, I was until I recently did some more research on it. I do believe Griffin has made it clear that he changed his mind because of new and compelling evidence”.
Well, “the new and compelling evidence” that almost every single person in this country accepts apart from the BNP first came to light in 1944 when the allies first had conclusive proof of mass extermination camps which they had suspected for some 12 months beforehand. Griffin first came across his “new and compelling evidence” on the night of Questiontime – whats that, 65 years later. As I was saying about intelligence.

Well said Mr Reddall.

What a strange, twisted world you must live in Philip. Personally, I regard ‘my own people’ as my fellow human beings.
The history of this country is full of migrants from all sorts of different parts of the world – we are, in effect, a huge mix of racial origins – as a DNA test on any of us would doubtless reveal.
The BNP wants to separate people arbitrarily on the basis of skin colour – that is utterly immoral. I don’t care if I have a dark-skinned councillor or MP, provided they do their job well – but I’d hate to have a racist elected to represent me…

I asked Mr. Kawczynski or any of his believers how they would stop the population rising from their absolute limit of 70 million to 71 million.
So far no replies.
These guys must surely have thought that one through before going public with their affermation that a 70 million limit was a realistic proposition. A proposition which they could presumably defend with reasoned arguements I assumed. Oh well.

Call me all the names under the sun, but what I say is true.
Do you think you would get a fair hearing, democratically, if you moved to Saudi/Zimbabwe/Pakistan etc?
Yet we will certainly have a Muslim or ‘minority ethnic’ political ruler in a short space of time and they will have no qualms about putting Brits last and their own people first.
I am not a racist, but neither will I be afraid of being called one merely for standing up for fellow Brits. That’s English, Scottish, Welsh or Ulsterman to anyone who is confused.

Regarding ‘ethics’ rather than ‘ethnics’ for a moment, this just in from the main BNP website:
“The British National Party’s call-centre, which is usually canvassing for membership fees and donations, has taken on a new role during the bitingly cold spell of weather that has a grip on Britain this week.
Instead of asking for money, the team of professional telephonists are inquiring whether British National Party members and supporters, who are senior citizens, need any help…”

Couldn’t have put it better myself Stuart, Griffin is a clever manipulater but no more than that. There are always plenty of sheep ready to look for simple solutions.
My father, still around I might add,ex RAF navigator went into Dachau at the end of the war and saw the horror.
My Uncle Bill who was a WOP in Bomber Command until shot down over Berlin in 1943 and was a POW in Stalag Luft 1, Barth until 1945. He found on their release that they were only a few miles from a concentration camp.

Stuart,
At least you and I can agree on the BNP. I concur with eveything you have to say about Griffin and his mates.
Philip,
Who, precisely, are these ‘non-Brits’ you are worried about? By far the vast majority of those entitled to vote here are UK Citizens. So unless you are suggesting some sort of electoral restrictions based upon skin colour or religion, then your comment has no foundation.
If, on the other hand, you are making such a suggestion, that would, by definition, make you a racist – would it not?
Phillip Reddall is correct to say that it is neither racist nor evil to want to be ruled in your own land, by your own people.
The word racism has little meaning for many people today after years and years of being overused and of being used out of context.
The British people have never been asked about mass immigration, all three of the main parties are committed to it, and no matter what lip service they pay to controlling it, none of them will do anything to halt it.
Now is the time for people to seek an alternative or accept that the future of our land and people is in jeopardy.
We are currently being replaced not just through immigration but also by the breeding habits of those immigrants already here and their descendents.
Immigration needs to halted completely, all illegal immigrants should be deported along with foreigners who have committed crime.
That would give the British people a fighting chance of preserving their identity and culture.
