The area hit by the Shrewsbury blast was returning to normal today with some traders allowed back into premises to start the clean-up operation – and others able to open for business again.

But others in the area have either not been allowed back in or have only been able to briefly return to ensure their shops and businesses are secure and safe.

And everything is far from normal for traders within the cordon where roads are closed to traffic and business is slow.

The explosion, which caused a building on the corner of Bridge Street and Smithfield Road to collapse on Sunday morning, has caused widespread disruption in the town centre with some businesses unable to open or left with damage to clean-up.
