Roads in the centre of Shrewsbury are being reopened after Sunday’s devastating explosion.

Wyle Cop and High Street are now open, with diversion signs in place.

Bridge Street, Barker Street, Welsh Bridge, Mardol, and Victoria Quay remain closed.

Smithfield Road is open to traffic from the direction of the railway station as far as Roushill for people to access Raven Meadows car park.

Park and ride services are operating as normal but will use alternative drop and pick up points in the town centre.

Car parks in the Barker Street area are closed, but all other town centre car parks – including Raven Meadows, Frankwell and St Julian’s Friars – are open.

Welsh Bridge and Bridge Street are expected to remain closed for the next two days.

Theatre Severn’s bar and restaurant will be open as usual today. The next performance in the theatre will be on Friday, January 15.

The Quarry Fitness and Swimming Centre is open as normal.

Serious questions need to be ask of Superintendent Martin Whitelegg as to why the Welsh bridge is still closed and also the Smithfield Rd.
Local councillors seem to be dumb struck. What do we elect them for
The effect on businesses in the town is dreadful and has played into the hands of the big out of town supermarkets
If Mr Whitlegg was self employed what a different story we would have.
Where is the Chamber of Commerce in this situation ?
