Worthen school closed why???, Two people from up the callow have turned in for work both in nissan micras.
As this country has been shut for 2 weeks yep only in the uk do we shut for 2 weeks for a 1 day holiday heavy snow and people failing to attend work is all we need. I do wonder if the xmas holidays etc contributes to the fact the uk has unlike other countrys failed to come out of recession??.

Have turned up at halfwayhouse that is.

Andrew, You cannot compare other countries when you talk about recession, it does not work like that. It is impossible to quantify recession so therefore cannot compare. Personally I belive that the Exmas holidays will help… end of the year, a nice break and now everyone ready to get going again.

Only in this nonsensical country could we close 20 schools because of snow.
The Headteachers who have made these decisions should hang their heads in shame and consider a career change.
Why did those schools which are closed due to a lack of heating not turn the heating on earlier and ensure it worked or if it didn’t ensure they had time to get it fixed.
You have an objective to achieve – so get on with it.
How many private sector organisations, that is to say organisations which get paid for providing a service or supplying goods only if they do just that, are closed today because of snow or a lack of heating.
Answer – NONE
Only the molly coddled public sector abandon their duties and responsibilities when they face adversity and yet we still have to pay them.
What approach would a headteacher take if they had to refund parents, from their own pockets, when they closed a school – a very different one I am sure.
I look forward to the excuses and comments from the pathetic public sector who are teaching our children that giving up is the right thing to do. Oh, and please, do come up with something other than the age old excuse of health and safety as that one really is oh so boring!!!

Agree to Disagree on this one I think . Although 2 weeks off at xmas is I am sure fine for an employee .

Captain Sensible doesn’t realise that it’s impossible for the teachers to get to the schools in this weather.

Private sector workers get to work so why can’t the teachers?
Is it because they don’t want to or have they been too ingrained with the give up, give up and give up again culture which threatens this once great nation.
What will the teachers say when they are in thier nursing homes and no one turns up to look after them.

Are Andrew Finch and Captain Sensible the same person.

the time to start worrying is when the pubs shut. we are expecting a good dump of snow down south tonight
Report abuse
Hhhm Captain not so Sensible doesn’t seem to have thought thids through – let’s help him.
I work in the private sector and it snows. In my office today 4 of the 7 staff couldn’t get in. We managed because there are only the 3 of us in the office – the boss opens up and we reduce our workload accordingly.
Now think about a school with, say 7 teachers (I’m trying to make this easy to understand here). Now the same happens here (4 people can’t get in only three turn up). Fine you say – but wait – there are over 200 kids to look after as well!! You can’t shove 200 kids into a class room and try and look after them with reduced staff. There are not enough staff to look after them so what do you do?
Do you
A: RIsk it – your average parent doesn’t care about the safety of their child anyway so long as they are off their hands
OR
B: Close the school so that the children don’t come to any harm?
Tough decision eh.

Captain Sensible should go back to school to learn about irony.

Hey Andrew, Perhaps the highways agencies can give those good for nothing lazy teachers a gritter each to drive while they are bunking off school…………..That’ll put the great back into Britain..

Don’t all be so miserable. We hardly ever have snow like this these days. When it happens, why shouldn’t children have the day off school?
It will be a sad day when making a snowman in the garden or the park is no longer part of a British childhood.

Chris p talks of making snowmen.
Snowmen should be totally forbidden as they are both sexist and racialist.
How can we wish to build a better society when we encourage our children to build giant, white men everywhere?
Stupid computer!
I got to work in the snow but I don’t object to colleagues who can’t – it’s different for everyone
At this rate you’ll all be quoting Uncle Albert ‘When I was a boy……’
Cheer up, nice bit of festive weather and I haven’t heard of any employers being too hard on their staff for struggling to get in.
And I enjoy my two weeks off at Xmas, I work bloody hard for it thank you Mr. Finch!
