Richard Lee takes a look at Le Beau Bai with Hollie Cartwright.
Shropshire has another Grand National hopeful to cling to in 2010 – in the shape of Richard Lee’s Le Beau Bai, writes JAMES GARRISON.
The promising seven-year-old finished third in the Welsh National at Chepstow last Monday after being sent off favourite.
Lee, who is based at Byton in south Shropshire, was thrilled with that showing and has not ruled out a tilt at the popular Aintree marathon in April.
“Lord Daresbury, who is the chairman of Aintree, part owns the horse and he is very keen for him to go to the National,” said Lee.
“I personally don’t see him as a Grand National horse this year but he will have an entry and if the ground was bottomless, we would be very tempted.
“But how often does it come up bottomless at Aintree?
“Having said that, if he doesn’t have an entry then we won’t have the option.”
Possol, from Henry Daly’s yard at Downton Hall, near Ludlow, is another Shropshire horse being targeted for the National.
