Roads in the centre of Shrewsbury remain closed today after Sunday’s explosion on Smithfield Road/Bridge Road.

Shropshire Council said Bridge Street, Smithfield Road, Barker Street, Welsh Bridge, Mardol and Victoria Quay will all be closed this morning.

Diversions are in place, but drivers are asked to find alternative routes around the town centre if possible.  All car parks in Barker Street are also closed. Frankwell Car Park is open.

Arriva Buses are unable to serve the bus station and the town centre,and  local bus services will operate as follows:

Service 1 – This will spilt and operate from Telford Estate to the Gyratory and Hospital/Gains Park to Frankwell (Theatre Severn).

Service 2 – Hawthorne Est – New Park Road. Will be not be running, (please use Service’s 24/25/26 to the end of Sultan Road/New Park Road).

Service 8 – Will operate Sutton Farm to the Gyratory.

Service 12 – Will operate Kingswood – Frankwell (Theatre Severn) – Kingswood.

Service 20 – This will spilt and operate Reabrook – Gyratory – Reabrook / Radbrook Green – Frankwell (Theatre Severn) – Radbrook Green.

Service 23 – Monkmoor – Gyratory – Monkmoor.

Service 24 – This will spilt and operate Moneybrook Way – Belle Vue Road – Gyratory – Moneybrook Way / Harlescott Tesco – Gasworks, New Park Road.

Service 25 - This will spilt and operate Bayston Hill (past ASDA, not Bell Vue) to Gyratory / Harlescott Tesco – Gasworks, New Park Road

Service 26 – This will spilt and operate Harlescott Tesco to Gasworks, New Park Road / Meole Village to Gyratory.

Service 64 – Terminate at Chester Street.

Service 70 - Operate to Frankwell (Theatre Severn).

Service 436 – will operate to Gyratory.

Service 511 – Terminate at Chester Street.

Service 519 – Terminate at Chester Street.

Service 544 – Little Lyth to Gyratory.

Service 546 – Pulverbatch to Gyratory.

Service 576 – Terminate at Chester Street.

Services X5/81/96 – will operate to Gyratory.

Park and Ride Services:

Harlescott will operate a loop as normal past the Arriva Depot – Chester Street – Ellesmere Road.

Oxon will operate to the Frankwell (Theatre Severn).

Meole will operate to the Gyratory.
