The silver Clio in the street on Vickie Warrens picture (picture number 2) is my car. My wife was directly outside the shop where the explosion took place and was caught in the blast and the associted falling debris. She allerted the fire service before reversing out of the immediate incident area. We have lost the car to the Police and my wife was left to make her own way home just minutes after the blast and already sufferring from shock. She was and I am extremely grateful that she was not seriously injured and both of our thoughts are with the injured and their families.

Looking how clean the flames are I would suspect a gas explosion, and the cold weather seems to propogate these incidents

My friend’s daughter was in the flat and has just been transferred from RSH to the burns unit at Selly Oak. She was climbing out and shouting for people to help her friend who was buried in the rubble and there was a man standing there not helping, just TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS – can you believe it??

I walked past that building several times over the christmas period 8-c , It just goes to show that you should live each day to the full. My fingers are crossed that all the injured make a full recovery.
Regarding the unhelpful photographer…. Lowlife!

We stayed at the hotel over the weekend we left one hour before the explosion. WE were stuned when we heard about the explosion. Our thoughts are with all the people involved. We went to see the panomime on friday and had a great time but we heard that Kiley Mcdonnell and his family was involved we saw him in the hotel before we left our car was next to there’s so we think we were very lucky.

My husband and I were exploring the Shrewsbury ‘shuts’and were strolling through Canaervon Lane from Mardol towards the car park when it exploded. I think that the alley’s walls protected us from much of the blast.

Makes me laugh at the comments about “lowlife photographers” … Where on earth do you think the images that you’ve come on this website to view come from … D’oh!

I am currently in Australia studying at the mo, but Shrewsbury is my hometown. My thoughts are with the people that got caught up in the explosion. I hope you all have a speedy and full recovery. I have lived in many flats above shops, around the town centre etc and you never think something like this will happen in a tiny town like Shrewsbury. Sending love and best wishes to all involved.
P.s – to the man taking photos instead of helping people – you should be ashamed of yourself.

My father is a photographer for the press so i am not slating photograpers when i say this but my brothers friend was one girl shouting out of the window and i find it absolutley disgusting that some one could just stand there while a young girl severly burned screams for help for her and her friend, i would much rather no photos existed im so glad that image made you laugh Virgil
My thoughts go out to that beautiful young girl and all the people hurt i hope they make a full recovery xxx
