Thousands of spectators lined the streets of Newport to see off the town’s annual carriage parade, writes Jason Lavan.

The event held by the British Driving Society Newport Branch saw more than a half dozen carriages ride through the town leaving children jumping up and down with excitement.

The parade left St Mary Street on Boxing Day morning and made its way to Edgmond, before returning to the town.
