Simpson insists festive cheer can lift Town fortunes

Manager Paul Simpson has urged Shrewsbury Town to deliver the perfect Christmas present – by reigniting their promotion dream.
Town entertain Macclesfield on Boxing Day before heading to Bradford 48 hours later in desperate need of a healthy return after collecting just seven points from the last eight League Two matches.
And Simpson is eyeing a big response from his squad after last week’s dismal showing in the 4-0 defeat at leaders Rochdale.
“I don’t believe the disappointment of last week will go but you have to lift yourself and get on with it,” said the Town chief.
“I think we can achieve something this season. We have talked a lot this week but now we have to go and deliver on the pitch.
“We are at home, and it’s a game we have to win.
“We are three points off the play-offs and there is a chance a lot of games around the country could be called off this weekend.
“The chairman has forked out to do everything we can to get our game on.
