Don’t wait for a fatal accident, act now

The proposed Wickes and Aldi development at Snedshill, Telford
Letter: I read that Telford & Wrekin planning department has approved plans for stores to be built on the Snedshill Trading Estate near Oakengates.
This despite objection from the Oakengates Town Council regarding the food store, as it would have a damaging effect on the economy of the centre, where trade is in a fragile state.
In fact, Councillor Liz Clare rubbished the Oakengates Town Council’s objection, stating: “It would have the opposite effect and pull more people into Oakengates”. I pray she is right.
However, I sincerely trust the planning department will have taken another objection from the Oakengates Town Council regarding the Greyhound roundabout. This objection is supported by the Ketley Bank residents.
That unless something is done with the design of this roundabout and the installing of controlled pedestrian crossing, with these two stores being built, and the planned development adjacent to the stores, this roundabout will become a nightmare for both motorists and pedestrians.
Please do not say use the underpass, as this is a danger in itself. Listen to the people who live and use this roundabout. Don’t wait for a fatal accident to happen before taking any action.
