Man, 27, jailed for assault on lover
Tuesday 22nd December 2009, 8:31AM GMT.
A 27-year-old Shrewsbury man has been jailed for 18 months for falsely imprisoning and assaulting his partner.
Neil Robson, of Montrose Place, Bicton Heath, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday for sentencing after admitting imprisoning Sandra Davis against her will on July 30 and assaulting her on the same date.
Judge Robert Trevor-Jones sentenced Robson to 15 months for false imprisonment, three further months for the assault and made a three-year restraining order preventing Robson from going near Mrs Davis.
Mark Linkins, prosecuting, said Mrs Davis had been in a relationship with Robson, despite living with her husband.
On the evening of July 29 she went to Robson’s home and enjoyed some drinks with friends.
The couple later went to bed, but when she decided to go home at about 1am on July 30, Robson prevented her leaving and punched her on the arm.
The situation continued until 5.30am when Mrs Davis fell asleep.
Later, Mrs Davis’s husband came around to the house to find out where she had been and Robson let her go.
The police were called and Robson was arrested. Under interview, he told officers he wished it had never happened.
Mr Mike Sherwood-Smith, for Robson, said his client has a number of issues which need addressing and a low IQ.
