Family florist’s set to shut
Saturday 19th December 2009, 8:12AM GMT.
A Shropshire family has decided to call time on their florist’s after 30 years in business.
Josephine Howells Florist in Mardol, Shrewsbury, will close for the final time at the end of the year.
The Interflora florist has been in the town for more than 30 years, starting off in St John’s Hill, before moving to its current location in 1999.
Carol Parker, who runs the business with her father, said: “It has been a hard decision but myself and my father have decided to retire and concentrate on family commitments.
“I came to the business 10 years ago and ran it with my mother, who died last year, and other staff. Over the years we have met a lot of lovely customers, many of whom have become good friends with us.
“I will miss doing the floristry, meeting customers and especially entering competitions, but I am looking forward to spending more time with the family.
“My father and I would like to express our thanks to all customers over the years past and present.
“We would like to thank everybody who showed us support and kindness following the death of my mother Josephine last year.
“We would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas.”
