Bucks face pitch battle
Saturday 19th December 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
AFC Telford United are taking precautions to ensure their home Boxing Day derby with Stafford Rangers beats the big chill – a week before the game.
Plunging temperatures have already taken their toll on Rob Smith’s side with today’s Blue Square North trip to Northwich Victoria postponed due to a frozen pitch.
And the Bucks are determined not to have a second weekend of inactivity and miss out on what is traditionally a bumper Boxing Day crowd.
“The forecast is for it to stay cold for the next few days so the frost covers are down,” said chairman Lee Carter.
“That is how seriously we are taking the threat from the weather and we want to do everything we can to get the game on.”
