A Ludlow man has been banned from parts of the town after carrying out a year-long reign of terror, which included pushing people over in the street.

Timothy Smith, of The Hawthorns, Gravel Hill, is already the subject of an anti-social behaviour order but has now had it extended following the catalogue of offences he has committed over the last 12 months.

The 21-year-old is subject to a curfew running from 7pm to 7am

He has also been banned from areas of Ludlow, including town centre pubs, must report to police three times a week and is banned from contacting certain people in the town.

It comes after Smith, who is also banned from being drunk and disorderly in a public place, was named by more than a dozen members of the public as being involved in a trail of anti-social behaviour this year.

Yesterday magistrates at Ludlow extended his Asbo for another four months until April 2010. He will then return to the court for the order to be reviewed.

Smith was first made the subject of an asbo in April 2008. Mandy Weston, prosecuting, said there had been five incidents of Smith breaching the order.

She said he had been involved in 18 incidents over the last year and police had received 15 calls from members of the public naming Smith.

Miss Weston said Smith was reported for fighting, bursting into people’s homes, chasing people down the road, kicking doors and swearing. “Alcohol is often a factor in these incidents,” she added.

The court heard another incident involved Smith banging his fist on a car and threatening to punch someone in Castle Square.

“He has also been named as pushing people over in the street,” added Miss Weston.

“The order has been necessary to protect members of the public from further anti social behaviour.”

Miss Weston said several changes also needed to be made to the terms of the Asbo.

It included a variation on the places that Smith is not to go and a change in the wording from not to be drunk in a public place, to not to be drunk and disorderly in a public place.

She added: “We are now including Sandpits Avenue to reflect the number of incidents that have occurred there.”
