Thieves distract staff
Friday 18th December 2009, 9:57AM GMT.
Thieves distracted traders and stole jewellery while their backs were turned at a south Shropshire antique market.
Police are now warning shop workers to be vigilant after a man and woman entered the jewellers on the ground floor of the Antique Market in Craven Arms between about 3.30pm and 4pm on Monday.
They asked to look at various necklaces but when the staff member was distracted, they hid various items about their clothing and left through the main entrance.
Constable Leanne Rhoden said: “Both the offenders were white, spoke little English and were described as Eastern European in appearance.”
She added the woman appeared to be heavily pregnant and had a scarf around her head. The man was about 5ft 10in in height and of medium build with dark hair.
“Anybody who knows the identity of the two or who saw them in the area during that afternoon is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000,” she added.
