Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn is set to host top entertainment in the new year.
The £28 million riverside venue in Frankwell will welcome The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on January 15.
The concert, entitled Brahms and Sibelius, will feature classical pieces by the two renowned composers for an evening of entertainment and beautiful music. It will start at 7.30pm and tickets range from £25 to £34. The following night, Jake & Elwood are set to bring their Blues Brothers show to the town.
Together with the driving backbeat of their award-winning Black Rhino Band, they continue to deliver electrifying performances to sell out venues.
Staying true to its roots, this production captures the spirit of the Blues Brothers.
The show is due to start at 7.30pm and ticket prices range from £17.50 to £20.
On January 20, a group from the project Imagined Village will be at the theatre as part of their UK tour.
Formed in 2007, the project was spearheaded by Grammy award-winning musician and producer Simon Emmerson

I had long heard the compliments and abuse aimed at Theatre Severn over the last year so was really curious when I was invited to a show there recently. We parked along the road to the quarry and walked to Welsh Bridge – on first seeing the Theatre I have to say I was hugely impressed! We walked over the bridge and into what seemed like another world – but how pleasantly they have mixed the ‘ancient’ and the ‘modern’. I don’t live in Shropshire but think you should all be very proud of what you have with this Theatre – it is an experience from the second you see it, walk into it and leave that magical place. I have already booked for shows next year (some were already sold out!) I am sure once the Theatre is established more large scale uk touring shows will be wanting to play there too. Congratulations Shrewsbury on a great venue – we had a very special time in your town and will certainly be back for more!
