Telford fret over injured quartet
Monday 14th December 2009, 12:52PM GMT.
AFC Telford United are monitoring a quartet of injury victims as they prepare to return to Blue Square North action at Redditch tomorrow.
The Bucks were without a game on Saturday as many of their rivals were playing in the FA Trophy first round, Telford having already been eliminated from the competition.
But that enforced break may prove timely for several players, who would all have been struggling to play over the weekend.
Defender Gavin Cowan (groin) and loan forward Andre Gray (hamstring) both picked up injuries in last Wednesday’s 2-1 win at Corby.
Striker Damian Reeves (calf) and midfielder Carl Rodgers (groin) are also both struggling for fitness.
“We think Damian should be okay but Carl Rodgers is doubtful for tomorrow,” boss Rob Smith confirmed.
“Gav Cowan is 50/50 at best, but Andre is definitely out.
“The news with Andre is maybe not as bad as we first thought though, because he’s been to see the Shrewsbury physio and he thinks there’s a chance he could be back for Saturday (away at Northwich).”
Meanwhile, Smith is still waiting for a decision from midfielder Gavin Hurren, who is mulling over the offer of a contract to the end of the season.
Hurren has other offers on the table, including one which includes an 18-month contract.
But the Telford chief believes they have a good chance of landing the former Kidderminster man, who has been a hit in his three months on loan from Tamworth.
“He needs to come to a decision before tomorrow night’s game really,” added the Bucks boss.
“We expect to hear one way or another very soon, and we’ll see what happens.”
