High-flying Prince William has completed his helicopter training course at a Shropshire airbase, it was confirmed today.

The prince, who is second in line to the throne, has passed his 115 helicopter training course at RAF Shawbury.

It comes after reports suggested his younger brother Prince Harry placed in the top five per cent of his course at the same base, which he finished earlier this year before going on to train to become an Army Air Corps helicopter pilot.

Clarence House confirmed today that Prince William was “pleased” to have progressed with his flying training during his time in the county. He is hoping to be a search and rescue pilot.

A spokeswoman said: “Prince William is pleased to have completed the intensive course and is looking forward to beginning the next phase at RAF Valley.”

It is understood Prince William remains in Shropshire, although his warrior prince brother has moved out of the home the royal brothers were sharing.

While a move to Anglesey beckons for Prince William, Prince Harry will continue his training at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop.

At a photocall held to update people on the progress of their training in June, the brothers said that they had been enjoying their time based in Shropshire.
