Telford’s three game revival delights Larry

Thursday 10th December 2009, 11:00AM GMT.

Larry Chambers hailed AFC Telford United’s December revival as they extended their unbeaten run to three games.

The Bucks ended November with a 3-1 defeat at Farsley Celtic on an afternoon when the whole team failed to deliver.

But they won 2-1 at Corby last night to cap a fine eight days which has also seen them beat Alfreton 2-0 and draw 0-0 with Fleetwood.

All those three opponents are promotion contenders in the Blue Square North, but the Bucks climbed to ninth with their latest victory – just five points off the final play-off place.

“We’d have taken that at the start of the week and, after the performance against Farsley – which was as bad as we’ve been all season – it’s great to bounce back,” said assistant manager Chambers.

“We knew these would be three tough fixtures so we’re obviously pleased to get seven points.

“Corby is not the easiest place to go on a Wednesday night, and they would have gone second in the table with a win.

“We’ve come away convincing winners. We said we need to go on a bit of a run and we’re doing that.”

Gavin Cowan opened the scoring for Telford last night with a header off a corner, while Damian Reeves also got in on the act with his first for the club.

But there was a sour twist for defender Cowan as his night ended early due to a groin strain – though he could feature against Redditch next Tuesday.
