A Christmas single has been released to help raise money towards the treatment of a three-year-old Shropshire girl who suffered a rare stroke.

Blossom Burton, from Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury, suffered the stroke while she was two and it was feared she may never walk again.

To continue to aid Blossom’s recovery, a single A Merry Merry Christmas Time by Ivor Rowley, from Telford, has been released.

Mr Rowley was joined in the studio with local musicians and the song is being sold for a minimum donation of £2.50 to go towards her on-going treatment.

Clare Francis, who was involved in the recording of the record, said she was delighted with the final product and hoped it would raise more than £1,000.

She said: “My friend Ivor Rowley has written the song and recorded it with a group of musicians in Telford.

“We hope to sell the song in order to raise money for Blossom’s on-going rehabilitation. We are selling CDs of the track for a minimum donation of £2.50 and hope to raise at least £1,000.

“Ivor has had 400 CDs made and they can be bought at The Crown Inn, Oakengates or by e-mailing merrychristmassong@googlemail.com

“Ivor has brought together friends and local artists including myself all of whom have contributed to the track which we believe embraces the real spirit of a traditional Christmas.

“All the featuring musicians gave their personal time to completing the track.”

The song was recorded at Scadge Studios in Hortonwood.
