Long tailbacks built up on two major Shropshire roads during rush hour this morning following accidents.
The first happened just after 7.30am on the A41 between Albrighton and Tong where police, fire and ambulance crews were despatched to the scene after a car was in collision with a motorbike.
Then at about 8am up to six cars were involved in a shunt on the A5 near its junction with the B5061 coming into Telford, with long delays building up.
Speaking about the smash on the A41, near to RAF Cosford, West Mercia police spokesman Richard Ewels said: “We were informed by ambulance just after 7.40am this morning about a collision on the A41 between Albrighton and Tong.
“It involved an MG car and a Kawasaki motorcycle.
“The motorcyclist was a woman and she was taken to Princess Royal Hospital for treatment, as was the driver of the car, a man, who was treated for suspected whiplash injuries.”
Mr Ewels said the male driver had to be cut out of his car by fire crews from Telford Central and Wellington.
He added: “Neither of the casualties are thought to be seriously injured.
“There was some congestion but crews worked hard to clear the scene and things were back to normal by around 9am.”
Meanwhile, queuing traffic also built up on the A5 after the accident this morning near to the junction with the B5061.
Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds said: “We had several calls about this just after 8am, with reports saying anything between three and six cars had been involved in a shunt.”
Anyone with information on either of the two accidents is urged to call police on 0300 333 3000.
