Police name canal body

A man whose body was found in the Montgomery Canal near Oswestry was today named by police.

Colin John Tuffin, 54, who lived in a canal barge at Maesbury Marsh near Oswestry, was found in the canal at Queen’s Head on Monday.

Police spokesman Richard Ewels said the coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, Mr John Ellery, is due to open an inquest in the next few days.

He added: “A post mortem has been held but we are still awaiting results of further tests.”
