Killock’s pointer to Bucks’ progress

Tuesday 8th December 2009, 12:55PM GMT.

Defensive lynchpin Shane Killock believes AFC Telford United still have a great chance to muscle their way back into the Blue Square North play-off race.

The Bucks are currently languishing in 10th position after a largely disappointing first half of the campaign.

But Killock, who has been one of Telford’s shining stars since his switch from Oxford, insists there is still plenty of time to get it right.

The 20-year-old was a deserved man of the match in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Fleetwood and sees plenty of reason for optimism.

“We’re 10th at the minute but it’s quite tight still – a couple of wins and we could be right up there.

“We still believe we can do it, and we’ll just keep going and see where we end up.

“If we were in this position in February we’d be having to have a word with ourselves, but it’s still only December.

“If we can get a few good results then we’ll be right back in the mix.”

Telford are on the road tomorrow for a trip to promotion-chasing Corby Town, who have made a big impression since coming up from the Southern League.

They have quickly established themselves as potential title candidates, but Killock sees no reason to fear them any more than anyone else in the division.

It is the first of three consecutive away games for the Bucks, who also go to Redditch next Tuesday before a trip to Northwich Victoria on Saturday, December 19.
