Town look to pick off Cherries

Shrewsbury Town have been urged to build the pressure on League Two’s leading lights by claiming a second top three scalp in a week.
Tuesday’s victory over Rotherham saw Shrewsbury move up one place to eighth and close the gap on the teams above them.
And they have a fresh chance to make further in-roads on the sides currently occupying the automatic spot at second placed Bournemouth tomorrow.
“We said on Monday that this was a big week for us,” said manager Paul Simpson, ahead of the trip to the Cherries.
“We made a good start with the performance and result against Rotherham and that has give us a foothold. Now we have to push on.
“We have had a horrible November but we have managed to keep ourselves in and around the leading places and we are not a million miles away from the top.
“People keep saying what a fantastic start to the season Bournemouth have made but if we win tomorrow, we are only four points behind them.”
Simpson is aware his side face a difficult battle against a team rejuvenated since Eddie Howe took over last season, becoming the youngest manager in the Football League.
“They have been fantastic since Eddie went in there so we know it’s going to be another tough game,” he added.
“But I believe that we have got enough to be a top team in this League if everyone plays to the levels they are capable of.
“We got there full of confidence after Tuesday and the important thing is that we try to sustain it.
“We have had one run of four games but you have to be making that run 10 or 12 games unbeaten to be successful.”
Simpson’s hopes of naming an unchanged team look bleak after the Town boss revealed he had one un-named injury concern.
“I’m not prepared to say who we have got a doubt over because I don’t want to give the opposition a heads-up,” he added.
“But at this stage I am expecting to have to make one change.”
Midfielder Paul Murray and left back Shane Cansdell-Sherriff are both walking a disciplinary tightrope. Their four bookings so far this season means they will be banned for one game should they receive another caution in December.
