Strictly star paying a visit for ladies’ day

Friday 4th December 2009, 11:00AM GMT.

Strictly Come Dancing and I’m A Celebrity star Camilla Dallerup is set to appear in Shropshire as a guest speaker at a ladies’ day next year.

The Danish ballroom dancer has been one of the regular professional dancers on the BBC One show which has propelled her into the spotlight.

She also recently became the first casualty of the ITV 1 reality TV series I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! when she quit after struggling to cope with the conditions in the jungle.

Miss Dallerup will appear at the Albright Hussey Hotel, near Shrewsbury, on April 21 when she acts as the guest speaker for an event being organised by Relate Shropshire, the county branch of the national relationship counselling charity. It follows the success of several previous ladies’ days arranged by Relate.

A spokeswoman for Miss Dallerup said the star was “delighted” to be coming to the county.

She said: “Camilla is only taking on a few events like this next year and this is one that she cares a lot about. She is really delighted to be coming to Shropshire and speaking to everyone and hearing what they have got to say as well.”

The event, which will run from 9am to 4pm, will include a presentation and display of evening wear by Hayley J, of High Street, Shrewsbury.

Following lunch there will be a talk by Miss Dallerup, the 2008 professional dance champion and a familiar face on Strictly Come Dancing. Tickets costing £25, are available from the Relate office at the Roy Fletcher Centre in Shrewsbury or by calling (01743) 344010.

Lin Foley, from Relate Shropshire, said the charity was looking for sponsorship support from local companies for the event.
