Roads shut for event

Friday 4th December 2009, 10:28AM GMT.

Roads are due to be closed in the middle of Oswestry tonight as the town celebrate its annual Christmas Live event.

Thousands of people were expected to pour into the town as a giant funfair was being built in the area during the late afternoon, closing Church Street, Cross Street and roads around Festival Square.

Organised by the town council, the event includes live music and ends with a firework display at 9.30pm.

The Borderland Rotary Club holds its Christmas procession tomorrow and the Hope House world record bid, Snowman Shuffle, will be held on Sunday.
