Danny’s heading out on loan

Last season’s leading scorer Danny Carey-Bertram was today heading out of AFC Telford United on loan – as the Bucks aim for “the biggest win” of their campaign so far.
Carey-Bertram was expected to link up with Worcester City for a month, so long as their Blue Square South game at Welling goes ahead tomorrow.
The former Hereford forward found the net 21 times for Telford last season and penned a two-year deal in the summer.
But the has found the net just once this term in the FA Cup victory over Pegasus Juniors.
“I spoke to Danny and we have decided it’s best for him to get a month’s football and try and get some goals under his belt,” said manager Rob Smith.
“Danny has still got a big role to play for us and there is no doubt he will score goals.
“All strikers go through this kind of spell and, with Damian Reeves coming in, his opportunities were going to be limited here for the next month.
“Hopefully he can go to Worcester and get his confidence back up and come back firing for us in January.”
Meanwhile, Telford could cut the deficit between themselves and the final play-off place to just four points with victory over big-spending Fleetwood at the New Bucks Head tomorrow.
But Smith is aware his side face a stern challenge against the visitors, who will include Steve Torpey in their squad after the striker’s £4,000 switch from Telford earlier in the season.
“It’s going to be tough,” admitted Smith. “They have got a squad to die for.
“They have got five or six strikers who anyone would like to have and I’m sure Micky Mellon (Fleetwood manager) goes to bed on a Friday night with headaches about who to play – but they are nice headaches.
“If we were to get the three points it would be the biggest win of our season, but we are capable.”
Liam Blakeman and Gavin Hurren are both unlikely to be involved,
