England are among 32 teams eagerly awaiting the draw for the finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

But do you think Fabio Capello’s men can be counted among the favourites?

Or will the nation be swept up by the inevitable frenzy, only to be disappointed at the quarter final stage?

The ceremony gets under way at 1700 GMT at Cape Town’s International Convention Centre.

By the end of the draw, nations will know the identity of their group-stage rivals and the date of every game.

The tournament is set to kick off on 11 June, with the final on 11 July.

Yes, of course England can win the World Cup. Until they get knocked out on penalties again.

We have a chance. However, if we’re worried about getting France or Portugal in the group stages, we might as well give up now!

Any knockout matches against Brazil, Spain, Germany, Italy or Holland would be very tough but we will have to play these countries if we progress.

Having said that, we do have a manager who knows what he’s doing so let’s get behind England and hope we can succeed for the first time since 1966.

Not that it matters really – as long as they stay in long enough for the shops to sell as many replica shirts and stupid car flags as they can. And it’ll be a nice opportunity for all those true Englishmen to display pride in their country by drinking lots, shouting lots and abusing those from other countries – can’t wait!

Anyway – it’s just a game at the end of the day – apart from the beer and flag industries I’m sure we’ll all still be here the day after england go out.

Yes,England can win the World Cup. Will they ? Probably not, but as they are seeded in the top eight we can expect them to finish in that region i.e. get to the quarter finals.
Some teams always end up out-performing their ranking – it would be nice to think it’ll be England that is one of them, but top eight means they haven’t disgraced themselves.

I think Mark’s reply (#3) says it all. I couldn’t care less who wins it.
