Wednesday 2nd December 2009, 3:00PM GMT.
Drivers were today urged not to risk lives on Shropshire’s A41 as police revealed the latest crackdown on the road they say is one of the worst in the area for fatal collisions.
Officers gave on-the-spot £60 fines on Sunday on the A41 near Market Drayton to drivers using their phones and who had not belted up.

“Did they catch any burglars, rapists, murders or terrorists?”
So people dying on roads isn’t important then? Please point us to the reports of murderers and rapists who were on the run in Market Drayton on that specific day so we can tell which ones the police should have been catching.
Why does it have to be either or? it may suprise you to know that there were most probably other Policeman working that day doing other jobs.

I merely question the allocation of resouces. It seems that those who shout the loudest get it, while all they seem to do about rapes is put up artists impressions in Post Officers.
Also, a simple phone or seat belt offence is simple. Crime detected and crime solved – makes the statistics look wonderful and a leisurely day out for the plod.

Lucy W – What is a Post officer? And does’nt he or she mind having artists impressions stuck to them?
But to be serious Lucy W does has a very valid point it seems that the Police will only use resources where a greater profit is returned ie fining drivers who are trying to go about everyday business.
