Two Ludlow officers have been commended for their work on a complex fraud case which involved thousands of pounds.
Detective Sergeant Ruth Conway and Constable Joanna Wood conducted an investigation which spanned eight months and resulted in a successful prosecution.
They have been awarded Divisional Commendations for “showing leadership, knowledge, commitment and strategic awareness” during the investigation.
More than £16,000 was defrauded from a business in the Ludlow area over a five-year period with the offender using a series of complicated financial transactions.
Sergeant John Smithson, the supervising officer, said Detective Sergeant Conway was an experienced detective who worked as a financial investigator with West Midlands Police before joining Ludlow section.
“The investigation was completed under her close supervision and she spent a great deal of time sharing her considerable knowledge of such investigations.
“Constable Wood showed a willingness to learn from this and completed the initial stages to the high standard demanded by Detective Sergeant Conway which was essential for the long-term success of the prosecution.”
He said Detective Sergeant Conway oversaw a thorough and immaculately documented investigation over eight months.
Both she and Constable Wood had carried out the investigation while continuing with their other duties.
