Gray on way to New Bucks Head
Thursday 26th November 2009, 5:07PM GMT.
Young Shrewsbury Town striker Andre Gray has signed for AFC Telford United on a one-month loan.
The 18-year-old hitman goes straight into the Bucks’ squad for the Blue Square North trip to Farsley Celtic on Saturday.
He was due to link up with his new team-mates for the first time in training this evening, having played against them only last week as a Shrewsbury substitute in the Shropshire Senior Cup final.
“We made inquiries about him a couple of weeks ago, but at the time Shrewsbury had injuries and their squad was quite depleted,” said assistant manager Larry Chambers.
“He’s very raw and he’s still learning the game but he’s a promising young player.
“He’s come off the bench a few times but he needs to play more football and he could get to do that for us.
“He’s got pace, a good physique and he will give us different options.
“I’m pleased to get him on board because he will bring something different to the squad.”
- Telford United Supporters Trust hold their AGM in the Learning Centre at the New Bucks Head this evening (8pm).
