Children from Woodside Primary School sang in Oswestry
Providing the entertainment this year were children from the Marches School, Bellan House, Woodside Primary School and Gobowen Primary School.
Among the carols were traditional favourites including Away in a Manger and the 12 Days of Christmas.
Miss Gull thanked everyone for taking part, adding that she had been very impressed by the singing.
She said: “The singing has been absolutely super. Haven’t we got a lot of talent in the local area?”
Oswestry town mayor Margaret Chamberlain said after the switch-on: “The town council is delighted to begin Oswestry’s Christmas celebrations with another wonderful festive singing event. More schools seem to be taking part each year and once again the singing has been of a very high standard.
“I hope Oswestry has a happy and prosperous Christmas.”
