Snooker showpiece a sell-out
Wednesday 25th November 2009, 2:59PM GMT.
The sold out signs have gone up for snooker’s UK Championship final in Shropshire next month, writes JAMES GARRISON.
The sport’s second biggest tournament begins at Telford’s International Centre on Saturday week, with the final taking place on Sunday, December 13.
There are no seats left for that showpiece match, while only a handful remain for the two semi-finals.
Tickets are still available from as cheap as £10.50 for adults for the early stages of the tournament, with plenty still up for grabs to watch crowd favourite Ronnie O’Sullivan in the first round on Monday, December 7.
“It’s funny because the Ronnie match has been one of the quietest in terms of ticket sales – but I’m sure that will change,” said World Snooker spokesman Ivan Hirchowitz.
O’Sullivan will be playing home favourite Adrian Gunnell in the first round – should the Telford cueman be successful in two qualifying matches in Prestatyn.
Gunnell’s first match is due to be played on Saturday.
