Nostalgic treat for film fans

Wednesday 25th November 2009, 11:56AM GMT.

keatonResidents in south Shropshire will be in for a nostalgic treat when two silent film classics are shown accompanied by live music.

Lydbury North Village Hall will screen the Buster Keaton film Sherlock Junior and Laurel and Hardy in Big Business.

The films will be accompanied by a score by Paul Shallcross, who writes his own pieces to silent films.

Ian Kerry, director of Flicks in the Sticks, said: “We are delighted to support Lydbury North Village Hall in this classic film choice.

“It is fantastic that we have been able to book Paul Shallcross.

“He writes his owns scores to silent films and plays in cinemas across the Welsh borders and the wider UK,” Mr Kerry added.

“The films have U certificates so this offers a rare opportunity for the entire family to go out together. A warm welcome and an evening full of laughter is guaranteed.”

The silent film classic double bill is due to be screened at 7.30pm on December 1.

Tickets are priced at £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children and a bar will be open during the evening.
