More heavy rain forecast
Tuesday 24th November 2009, 12:15PM GMT.

Flood-hit residents across the UK were bracing themselves for further misery today with more heavy rain forecast. In Shropshire, the Environment Agency is monitoring the level of the River Severn.
Shrewsbury is on flood warning with temporary defences still up to protect homes.
In Cumbria, residents were bracing themselves for the worst with up to 100mm (3.9 inches) of rain predicted to fall on parts of the county’s already saturated ground, raising river levels again and putting the emergency services on flood alert.
Roads closed in Shropshire include Sydney Avenue and Gravel Hill Lane, in Shrewsbury; Chilton Farm Lane, Atcham; the Severnside to Wellmeadow footpath in Bridgnorth, and some roads in the Melverley and Maesbrook area.
The road between Cross Houses and Atcham, which was fully opened yesterday, may need to be closed today and the Frankwell Main and Frankwell Riverside car parks in Shrewsbury also remain closed.
Shropshire Council said it had received “some requests” for sandbags, but was not at the stage of putting them out. In the county, 12 to 18mm of rain is expected today, accompanied by sudden winds and gusts of up to 50mph.
In Cumbria, the clean-up operation was under way today.

Well I went to school in Market Drayton, there’s a lot to be said for living in California. It will be 80 in Newport Beach tomorrow :-). Sorry had to point that out :-).

I also went to school in Market Drayton, and there is a *lot* to be said for moving away from MD. I’ve not made it as far as CA yet though, but the weather isn’t so bad in Leeds, and we’re not flooded out either o/
