Meet our Neighbour of the Year: Janet Smith

Janet was nominated for the award by Salma Mcleod. She said: “Janet is always there for anyone in our street.

“She is also a street representative and works very hard at keeping our street safe and keeping the trouble out. She is always there for me and my children and will go out of her way to help us and anyone else.

“I think Janet deserves this award and you couldn’t find a better neighbour.”

Telford FM’s Hero Awards celebrate unsung achievements — the people who work behind the scenes making a real difference to the lives of others.

The radio station’s listeners have been nominating those volunteers and friendly characters who go the extra mile for the people around them, for no other reason than they care.

Over the weeks listeners have been nominating candidates for the Courage award, Dad of the Year award, Mum of the Year award, Volunteer of the Year award and Neighbour of the Year.

Judges have made their decisions, and Telford FM’s Paul Shuttleworth has been making a surprise visit to the winners to present them with their certificate, trophy and a bouquet of flowers.
