Mobile camera to clock motorists
Monday 23rd November 2009, 11:58AM GMT.

Shropshire councillor Arthur Walpole and chairwoman of the Pant and Llanymynech Parish council, Dilys Gaskill, launch the camera
A mobile speed camera was being introduced today on a road near Oswestry notorious for motorists exceeding the limit.
The speed enforcement site was being launched on the A483 in Pant after a residents’ campaign for improvements spanning more than 10 years.
It forms part of an initiative being rolled out by the Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia, which aims to address concerns about speeding.
Having already introduced community concerns sites in Worcestershire and Herefordshire, Pant has been selected as the first site in Shropshire.
Katy Jenkins, communications manager for the Safer Roads Partnership, said: “We have collected speed data at Pant on the A483 and it does support the need for enforcement.
“It is our intention to carry out speed enforcement for an initial period of six months then we will assess the need for further enforcement while we continue to monitor speeds.”
Further community concern sites are also set to be introduced in Shropshire.
Drivers will also be clocked on Hadley Park Road in Telford from December where youngster Tom Rowley suffered serious injuries after being knocked down this year.
Two other sites, the A41 Chetwynd Firs and Woodcote and the B4176 going into Telford, will also be monitored in the new year by mobile cameras.

About time one was placed on Trench Road. Never see one there despite the warnings and yet the road is used like a rally car racetrack after 9pm! (Not to mention the drink drivers leaving the various pubs)
Would make a fortune and maybe our council tax could come down a bit then!
