Another TV airing for town church

Saturday 21st November 2009, 10:20AM GMT.

Shrewsbury’s St Chad’s Church is to appear on BBC Songs of Praise tomorrow – for the third time in a little over a year.

St Chad’s appeared on the Remembrance Sunday and Christmas editions of the shows last year.

Now singer Aled Jones will celebrate faith, science and the natural world for the show entitled Darwin’s Birthplace in the latest edition to come from the church. It will be shown at 5pm tomorrow on BBC1.

David Leeke, director of music at St Chad’s, said: “The BBC came to film two programmes initially. When they were here they discovered the links between Charles Darwin and St Chad’s so they decided they would do an extra Songs of Praise and that is the one going out tomorrow.

“It hasn’t been shown before.”
