Three quizzed over murder plot claim
Thursday 19th November 2009, 3:22PM GMT.
Three men have been arrested in Telford on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, detectives today said. The men were in custody today.
The arrests have been made as a result of inquiries into a report police received on Sunday night that a gun had been discharged outside an address in Doddington in Hollinswood.
The men were due to be questioned at Malinsgate Police Station in Telford.
Police said two of the men were their mid-30s and the third was in his early 40s. All come from the Wellington area.
Armed police swooped on Doddington on Sunday evening.
Sniffer dogs were sent to the scene of the incident after a member of the public reported hearing a gunshot outside a house.
Detective Inspector John Elcock, senior investigating officer in the case, said: “I can confirm that we have arrested three men on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder as part of our investigation into Sunday’s incident and that they will be questioned during the course of the day.
“It is highly unlikely that we will be able to offer further information about these arrests today though.
“However, I would like to stress that the fact we have people in custody does not mean that the inquiry is over and that it remains vital that anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Doddington area on Sunday comes forward and shares that information with us.
“Equally, if any person has any more specific information about this incident then they are asked to make contact with us as soon as they can.”
He advised local people to go about their business without concern.
