Mother’s shock at death threat graffiti
Wednesday 18th November 2009, 10:00AM GMT.
A mother-of-two spoke today of her shock and upset after she woke to find vandals had daubed the windows of her Telford home with a chilling threat and obscene graffiti.
The vandals scrawled “Goona kill you” across one of Helen Steadman’s windows and also hurled paint across her Vauxhall Frontera car, as well as over a motorbike parked in the back garden.
Miss Steadman, 46, of Weybridge, Woodside, said she had no idea who was behind the attack.
She hoped it was just young pranksters and not something more sinister.
Miss Steadman said she and her 13-year-old twin boys were asleep in bed when the attackers struck some time in the early hours of Monday morning.
She said: “The boys alerted me. They said someone had written on the windows.
“Whoever was responsible had got into the shed in the back garden, ransacked it and taken some spray paint to daub the windows, my car, the motorbike and garden furniture.
“There were obscenities written and drawn everywhere and they had written that they were going to kill me on the front window but had written it backwards so it could be read from inside. I was really shocked.”
Constable Kris Day, of Telford police, said it was one of the worst cases of malicious graffiti he had seen. There appeared to be no reason why the family was targeted.
“It is likely that whoever did this will have either paint on their hands or clothing. I appeal for any information about this crime and if necessary ring Crimestoppers,” he said.
Details to police on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
