Forecasters say a lot of rain is expected in Wales over the next couple of days, with water levels rising in the Severn as a result.

Meanwhile, winds could reach 40mph, though not as much rain is expected in Shropshire.

The Environment Agency said the River Severn, including around Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, and the Severn Vyrnwy confluence in Mid Wales and Oswestry were still on flood watch today, with homeowners urged to stay vigilant.

Shropshire Star weatherman John Warner said: “I don’t think Shropshire will get any flooding, certainly no more than it already had, but the water levels in the Severn are likely to rise because of all the rain in Wales.”
