Plans to reopen explosion chip shop

The owners of a Shropshire chip shop destroyed in a massive explosion which rocked a county town are hoping to reopen the take-away early next year.
The Broseley Chippy was reduced to a pile of rubble during the explosion in February.
But today the owners, Parmjit Sandhu and his wife Manjit, from The Rock, in Telford, said that they were hoping the business would be up and running again by March next year.
Mr Sandhu said that the last nine months had been very difficult for the couple, who ran the business in Broseley High Street for four years before the explosion.
“It has been very hard for us and financially it has been very difficult, but we are looking to open up again and we have had a lot of support from customers,” he said.
“We have sent plans to the council and we are just waiting to hear back from them now.”
He added: “It is going to take a few more months to get everything in place and about a month just to get the installations done, so I think we will be open by the end of February or early March.
“We have to rebuild the whole shop again, but it will look similar to the last one and we will be selling the same food.”
The plans have been submitted to Shropshire Council, which is due to make a decision by the end of next month.
Mr Sandhu added once plans were approved they would begin building work on the site.
