Society’s youngest cast set for show

Shrewsbury Amateur Operatic Society has chosen one of its youngest casts for its 117th production.
The show, Sweet Charity, features 20 new members in a 44-strong cast.
The society last performed Sweet Charity in 1992 and is set to perform it again from February 16 to 20 next year.
The principal role of Charity has been given to Bexie Archer.
The 18-year-old is a student at Shrewsbury Sixth Form College and Sweet Charity will be her first show with the society.
The leading male role of Oscar will be performed by James Pinches who has appeared in two previous shows with the society.
Aimee Lake will be Helene and Emily Floyd will be Nickie. Shaun Eagles, a performing arts student at SCAT, is in his first show as Vittorio Vidal and it is also a first time for Ami Price, as Ursula, who is new to musical theatre.
Director Andrew Sandilands said: “Whilst we have a very young and new cast, everyone of them is giving it all they’ve got.”
